The global essay writing service market is expected to grow from $1.50 billion in 2022 to more than $5 billion by 2030. The increasing demand for essay writing services from students and professionals worldwide mainly drives the market’s growth.
In addition, a growing number of freelance writers and an increasing adoption of online learning platforms also contribute to the growth of the essay writing service market.
What do these statistics tell us?

It’s a confirmation that an academic writing service is a gold mine. It is one of the online businesses with the highest return on investment (ROI) and can make you a millionaire in less than two years of operation. It made Eugene a millionaire within months.
Who exactly is Eugene?
Eugene is the founder of UvoСorp, one of the most popular academic writing platforms.
Eugene was dating a girl back in 2005. One day, he asked her girlfriend what she wanted to do after graduation. Her girlfriend didn’t have any idea what she wanted to do.
She told him that she wanted to look for a job after graduation. At that point, Mr. Eugene asked her about the work experience she had ever actually had. Her girlfriend told him that she had worked as a support manager in a company that provided essay writing assistance for American students.
That was the first time Mr. Eugene heard of a company that provides essay writing services. He told her girlfriend they had to start their own academic writing service if that was the only work she ever did.
And that’s how the idea of starting Uvocorp was born.
They had only two weeks to write the first essay because it would have never happened if they had started planning many things simultaneously. They launched their academic writing website (uvorcorp.com) on November 15, 2005.
They designed the website quickly. The website didn’t have an order form or any payment integration. It was just a basic website with three pages explaining what the company was about, the services they offered, and a contact page. The only way to contact the management staff and writers was through emails.
They ran an ad campaign on Google and received their first order on November 20, 2005.
That is how the company started.
Currently, Uvocorp remains to be one of the best writers’ platforms. The company behind Uvocorp has more than 50 client sites (I have explained in this guide the difference between a writer’s platform and a client site).
How much does Uvocorp owner make?
The exact figure is unknown, but it’s believed they make millions of dollars every month based on the traffic their client sites get.
My experience with academic writing websites
I have been working as a copywriter for more than ten years now.
My first encounter with academic writing websites was in 2016 when a client hired me through Upwork to review different academic writing websites.
The reviews are published on bestessayservicereviews.com (the client has given me permission to add the site to my portfolio).
The client used to give me the name of an academic writing company. My work was to search on the company’s official websites or check reviews about the company on sites like Sitejabber and write an honest review about the company.
That’s how I came to know different sites that offer academic writing services.
In 2018, another client hired me through Fiverr to write SEO articles and blog posts for his academic writing website (the website name is withheld for the client’s confidentiality).
I wrote over 50 SEO articles and a couple of blog posts for the client. Some of the keywords rank on the first page of SERPs.
My digital marketing course opened more doors.
In 2018, I pursued a digital marketing course at Tosm, which opened doors for more copywriting and digital marketing opportunities.
I started sharing free digital marketing tips on social media that can work for any online business, including academic writing websites.
Several academic writers with dormant academic writing websites started to contact me to pick my brain.
In fact, the majority of my current copywriting clients are academic website owners. I offer them a number of services, including site audit, keyword research, content marketing (writing SEO articles and blog posts), and on-site SEO for those with WordPress-based academic writing websites.
I have helped many clients grow their academic writing websites and learned much about the industry.
For instance, I have a direct client from the USA with a series of niche-specific academic writing websites (I have covered more about niche-specific websites in this guide) who keeps coming for more services.
My first academic writing website
I’m always a curious freelancer who wants to venture into any online hustle. For every article I write for my client, I always ask myself how the article helps the client make money.
In 2015, I used to write eBooks for a client from Australia. I wrote more than 50 eBooks which the client sold on Amazon KDP.
Out of curiosity, I started searching on the internet about how people make money through eBooks.
In fact, I went to the extent of buying a course from Udemy. The course’s name is Make Passive Income 2022 – Self Publishing on Amazon KDP. https://www.udemy.com/course/make-passive-income-2022-self-publishing-on-amazon-kdp/
Within a few days, my first book on how to start a profitable VoIP business was live on Amazon’s KDP. You can confirm the book was published on February 15.
That’s how I started selling short non-fiction books on Amazon’s KDP. Out of curiosity.
In 2016, a client hired me through iWriter to write product reviews and buyer guides for her affiliate marketing blog. I wrote more than 150 product reviews for her Amazon affiliate blog.
One day, she sent a message saying she had sold her site on Flippa and wouldn’t need any of my services.
I wasn’t disappointed because I had several direct clients who paid good rates.
Out of curiosity, I asked myself how Amazon affiliate blogs make money.
I had little knowledge about Amazon associates. So, after a few days of serious research, I launched my affiliate marketing website in the same niche.
That’s the second online hustle I started out of curiosity.
The third online hustle I started out of curiosity is an academic writing website.
I used to tell myself there was no way a client would pay me now and again to write SEO content for their websites if they weren’t making any money.
So early this year, out of curiosity and the need to make more money like my clients, I launched my first academic writing website essayloop.com.
I posted thousands of questions on the site using a bot (a big mistake many academic website owners make). Using questions for marketing is not a good idea because they are considered spam by search engines. I have covered this in detail in this guide.
I realized that almost 95% of the questions were not indexed. I was frustrated and decided to start another academic writing website in June this year.
This second website (name withheld because I don’t want my competitors to steal my keywords and copy my content marketing strategy) is doing well. I don’t use questions on this site.
I’m currently implementing digital marketing strategies like content marketing, SEO, social media marketing, and referral marketing, among others. It’s a lot of work that needs effort, time, and money. Those are the strategies I have shared in this guide and how to implement them.
Has your academic writing website made you a million?
Honestly NO.
My second website, which I started a few months ago, has done only 30 orders for different clients (no returning clients)
A 6 month period is short enough for an academic writing website to make anyone a millionaire.
But I am confident the site will make millions for me if I continue implementing all the digital marketing strategies.
PART 1: Detailed Guide On How To Start An Academic Writing Website
In this section, I will share the steps of starting an academic writing website, from choosing the type of academic writing website and domain registration to web hosting purchase and website design. Read on to learn more:
Step 1: Choose the Type of Academic Writing Website You Want To Start
When choosing the type of academic writing website to start, you have two criteria to consider.
A niche-specific or an all-around academic writing service.
A client-only site or a self-managed complete site.
Let’s explore each of these options.
1. A niche-specific website
This website offers academic writing services in a specific academic discipline or type of paper. For instance, statisticshomeworkhelper.com and dissertation-service.org are two examples of niche-specific websites.
The first is a niche-specific site that deals with statistics-related academic writing assignments. The latter is also a niche-specific site since it deals with dissertations only.
One of the pros of a niche-specific site is that it’s easier to rank compared to an all-round website. Its only disadvantage is that it limits you.
2. An all-round academic writing service
An all-round site is an academic website that offers services in multiple academic disciplines. The site also handles different types of papers, including term papers, research papers, essays, dissertations, case studies, and much more.
In fact, most academic writing websites on the internet are all-round sites. Examples of such websites include essaypro.com and academized.com.
One of the disadvantages of an all-round academic writing website is that they are not easy to rank.
3. A client-only site
As the name suggests, a client-only site only deals with clients. It’s an academic writing website with an order form that allows clients to place their orders. Client-only sites don’t have a writers’ platform.
Orders placed from clients go to the website’s backend. From there, you can pick them up and send them to your writers through email or assign writers to work from your workstation. You can also post those orders on your writer’s platform (a separate website that manages writers like Uvocorp.com or writerweb.com).
One of the disadvantages of a client-only site is the level of management required. You will need to be there all the time to assign writers orders that you pick from the backend and deliver custom-written papers to clients
4. A self-managed site (complete website)
A self-managed site has a client site and a writer’s platform combined. A site like EssayShark.com is one of the best examples of a self-managed academic writing website.
One of the advantages of a self-managed site is that it’s easier to manage. You have to be present all the time to manage clients and writers.
A client places an order which is picked by any writer who is online. The writer does the assignment and delivers the paper to the client for review.
One of the disadvantages of a self-managed website is that it’s expensive to design. Another disadvantage is reputation management. Your writers will likely write a negative review about your site or attempt to steal your clients by leaving their contact details on the paper delivered.
So it’s up to you to decide which best option based on the information I shared above.
My second website is a client-only site that offers only essay writing services (no other custom papers like term papers, case studies, theses, or dissertations)
2. Choosing a Domain Name for Your Academic Writing Website
Some people planning to start an academic writing website or any online business overlook the domain name and choose any domain so they can proceed to the more exciting phases of setting up the business.
In fact, choosing any domain is one of the major mistakes you can make when starting an academic writing website. Your academic website’s domain name matters a lot for the following reasons:
SEO: Including a relevant keyword or term in the domain is helpful when it comes to search engine optimization. It is not necessary but important. Look at my first domain essayloop.com. I included the term “essay.” Look at essaywriters.net. They used the keyword “essay writers.” Using a keyword or relevant term in the domain boasts your search engine effort and increases your chances for SERP visibility.
Brand awareness: A good domain name can help you increase brand awareness for your academic writing services. Whether it’s a company or your name, every little bit of exposure help can help you grow your brand.
Tips for choosing a good domain name
You need to consider a couple of factors when choosing a domain name for your academic writing business. Let’s explore each of these factors.
1. Decide the type of domain
Depending on your goals, you can use your real name or come up with a distinct brand name.
If you want to continue working as an academic writing freelancer indefinitely, then using your name could work. If you go for this option, you can come up with a “FirstNameLastName.com” domain or something similar.
One of the disadvantages of using your name is the problem of scaling up your academic writing business in the future when you start getting more clients.
That said, if you want to scale up your freelance writing business and hire writers to work under you, it’s a good idea to use a branded domain.
As stated earlier, you may use a relevant term or keyword or simply come up with a unique, memorable brand name such as “Uvocorp” or “Academized.”
3. Choose your TLD
TLD is one of the components of a URL. A TLD (Top Level Domain) is everything that follows the final dot of a domain name. For example, the TLD of “essayloop.com” is “.com.”
Some popular TLDs include .com, .net, .org, and .co.
Many people often overlook the TLD component when choosing a domain name. Don’t make such a mistake when choosing a domain name for your academic writing business.
Generally, a .com extension is the commonly used TLD for most online businesses. You can also go for .net, but the rule of thumb here is to avoid complex domain extensions that your target clients may not trust.
3. Keep it short and simple
You’ve probably come across long domains like statisticshomeworkhelpers.com or domyhomeworkfor.me.
While choosing a long domain name may not be a bad idea, it is difficult to establish some level of trust.
So, try as much as possible to come up with a short domain name with your brand in it.
Also, avoid using dashes or numbers in the domain name. Domain names with numbers or dashes can limit your ability to build trust among your target clients because they feel spammy.
4. Think in terms of authority
Most established online businesses have the main goal of converting traffic into leads. Target customers already know them.
When you are starting out, no one knows your business exists. So, you will need to start by building authority before you think of making converting our traffic.
Everything on your website should focus on establishing authority. And the initial step of building authority is the type of domain you choose for your academic writing business.
So, ensure you come up with a classy, clean, and tidy domain name that inspires trust.
5. Search availability
Just because you have come up with a good domain name for your business doesn’t mean the domain is available. You need to go to a preferred domain registrar or use an online tool such as Instant Domain Search to find out if the domain you came up with exists.
Sometimes you may find that the domain is taken but available for sale but the current owner. In this case, you may purchase at the listed price or make an offer.
As you can see, you will need to be careful when selecting a domain. When it comes to buying a domain, there are many domain registrars where you can buy your domain.
It doesn’t matter where you register your domain, but I would advise choosing reputable companies like Namecheap, HostGator, GoDaddy Domains, Domain.com, DreamHost, and Bluehost.
3. Paying For Web Hosting
The next step after buying a domain name is to pay for web hosting—an online service that makes your academic writing website found on the internet.
When you purchase a hosting plan, you are simply renting space on a physical server to store all the website’s data and files. Hosting companies provide the resources and technology required for your website to run smoothly.
There are several web hosting options available for you, including Shared Hosting, Virtual Private Server (VPS) Hosting, Cloud Hosting, WordPress Hosting, and Dedicated Hosting.
With all these options, it can be difficult to determine which one is best for your academic writing website.
Ideally, you should begin with a basic web hosting solution, such as a shared hosting plan, and upgrade it later when scaling up your business.
Personally, I use HostGator’s shared hosting (Business Plan) because it offers unlimited websites, unlimited storage, unmetered bandwidth, free WordPress/cPanel website transfer, free SSL certificate, and monthly databases that give business plenty of room to grow.
4. Designing Your Academic Writing Website
The next step after buying a domain and paying for hosting is to look for a web developer to design your website.
If you have reached this phase of starting an academic writing website, you might be torn between using a template to build your website or coding the site from scratch.
Both options have pros and cons, so it’s important to consider that before deciding on the ideal option.
Most of the developers I know use templates to design academic writing websites. Designing a website using a template is less expensive and faster. Most templates, like the one my designer uses, are tested for search engines and user-friendliness.
If you are planning to go custom, be prepared to dig deeper into your pockets to cover the cost of website development and wait a couple of weeks for your site to be ready.
PART 2: Detailed Guide on How to Market an Academic Writing Website
After building your academic writing website, the next thing you want is to grow it and start making money out of it.
Isn’t that what you want?
Well. That’s what every online business owner wants after setting up their online business.
I have had the privilege of interacting with most academic writing website owners on many occasions. Some of them are my clients, while others are members of a WhatsApp group for academic website owners, where I am an active member.
Many people seeking help on how to grow their websites reach out to me privately with a series of questions.
I get overwhelmed.
In fact, that’s the reason I decided to compile this guide which I hope will answer most of the questions and concerns you might have about starting or marketing an academic writing website.
The first question I often ask my contacts is about their marketing strategies.
Guess what?
I always get the same answer.
They post questions.
I had already revealed earlier that I had posted thousands of questions on my first website (essayloop.com) using a bot. A friend of mine had lied to me that he uses questions on his website.
I thought I would make millions too by posting questions.
Google proved me wrong.
Out of the 20,000 questions I posted on the site, only less than 500 were indexed.
Why?
Posting questions on your academic writing website as a way of marketing, is not a good idea because they are considered spam by search engines.
The same question is posted on several other sites, including studypool.com, Chegg, and Sweetystudy.com (formally homeworkmarket)—and that’s spam, according to search engines.
I was frustrated and decided to start another academic writing website. I don’t use questions on my second website.
I’m implementing various digital marketing strategies on the site, and the site is really picking up very fast.
I have already written 3500 words in the first part on how to start an academic writing website.
The second part, “how to market an academic writing website,” contains more than 5000 words. This is the most interesting part because, without marketing, you might not live your dream of making millions from your academic writing website.
- I have covered six digital marketing strategies that work for an academic writing website and how to implement them successfully.
- I have shared case studies on how different academic writing companies leverage these platforms to make millions from students looking for academic writing services.
- The cost of starting as well as the cost of marketing an academic writing website. Breakdown of the cost of implementing each strategy and how to minimize the cost with DIY services
Unfortunately, this second guide is not free. It’s a premium guide that goes for $50. I’m offering a 50% discount to a few people (those who have already created their academic writing websites).
Why do you sell this guide?
There are many freelancers with dormant academic writing websites. I want to see them succeed.
Secondly, I have spent my time and effort compiling this guide, so I charge a small fee to compensate for the time lost.
Why should I buy your guide?
My guide acts as a starting and growth template. It has actionable steps on how to market your academic writing website, plus the resources and amount you need to implement each digital marketing strategy.
These are tried and tested strategies I’m currently using, and I’m confident they will help you grow your academic writing business.
How do I get this guide?
Simply text me on WhatsApp 0718211110 or reach out through messenger (Bishop Nyams). Also, feel free to ask a few questions you might have about academic writing websites.
Once you buy my guide, Execute
It’s easy to become paralyzed by the various steps and requirements I shared in my guides. But just like Eugene, you will have to overcome the notion of perfection.
It’s far more productive to take action than to expend time and resources to get it perfect.
You can begin the process by selecting a domain name. Go through the process of carefully considering each aspect, but don’t freeze up!
Once you find something that works, roll with it and move on to the next step. Building a website is a process.
Be patient yet proactive!
I wish you all the best.
